History


1974
a group of concerned Korean-American women opened a branch office in Washington D.C. to provide financial assistance to the Korean Legal Aid Center for Family Relations based in Seoul, Korea.  The Legal Aid Center in Korea was established to help Korean women better understand their rights and gain access to legal services.

1985Korean Family Counseling and research Center (KFCRC) was founded by volunteer attorneys and mental health professionals in Wheaton, Maryland, to meet the needs of the rapid growing population of Korean immigrants in the Washington, D.C. area.

1986Korean Family Counseling and research Center (KFCRC) was formally registered as a non-profit organization.

1997Korean Family Counseling and research Center (KFCRC) relocated to Vienna, Virginia, and changed its name to the Korean American Family Counseling Center.

2008 programs and services were expanded to reach the Asian American community.

1974년 한국 가정법률 상담소를 경제적으로 돕기 위해 워싱톤 지부로 설립되었습니다.

1985년 이민가정을 대상으로 한 상담업무를 시작했으며, 워싱톤 지역의 한인의 수적증가와 더불어 일어나는 가정과 청소년 문제를 완화시키기 위하여 활동영역을 넓혀 왔습니다.

1986년 본 기관은 미정부에 비영리 단체로 등록되었고,

1997년 워싱톤 가정상담소로 명칭을 변경하였습니다.

2008년 한국인을 포함한 아시안을 대상으로 프로그램을 확장하였습니다.
